A Visit to Master A-fa’s Buddhist paraphernalia shop
After appreciating the ancient Xiang Dan, we went to Master A-fa’s Buddhist paraphernalia shop. As soon as we approached the Buddhist paraphernalia shop, we could smell the aroma of wood. The shop was filled with various Buddha statues, and the masters were working hard. Some were painting the statues, and some are pulling lacquer threads. Master A-fa was sitting at the table in a corner of the shop and was making the prototype of statue of Li Nezha step by step. It felt like Master A-fa used his exquisite skills to “summon” the form of the statue from the wood in his hand. After Master A-fa's constant knocking, the appearance of the statue gradually appeared, and the wood seemed to come alive.
The table in front of Master A-fa was filled with various carving tools. In addition to large and small carving knives and drill knives, there are also saws, planers, etc. When Master A-fa needed to use different tools, Master A-fa could accurately change them with just a raise of his hand without even raising his head. He was so skillful that it was like a reflex action, which amazed us!
Master A-fa was “making the prototype.”
