Statue Sprucing Craftsmanship

The posture and facial expression of the statue

We were curious about why each statue of the god has a unique look. Master A-fa said that each statue has a different “edict,” and each has its own special meaning. For example, the posture of Xuantian Shangdi is holding his edict and magic sword, which means that he is casting magic to ward off demons. According to legend, Xuantian Shangdi subdued the snake demons and turtle demons in the Han River. In fact, in addition to Xuantian Shangdi, every god has its own legend. For example, when Master A-fa carved Guanyin, since Guanyin has 36 incarnations to save all living beings, the statue has several postures, including black face, gold face, white face, pink face, and female and male appearances.

Master A-fa also pays great attention to the facial expressions of the statues. For example, a male posture of Guanyin Bodhisattva will appear more masculine, while a female posture of Guanyin Bodhisattva will appear kind and solemn. Some statues have ferocious faces, while others have smiling faces. Basically, the statues of Wang Ye will appear solemn, such as this statue of Fan Fu Qian Sui.

Different statues have different expressions:
