Our special project on statue sprucing Master A-fa also attracted the attention from Public Television Service, of which the host came to Changhua to discuss the details of interviewing Master A-fa with us. The host, Miss Ally, visited Master A-fa with us, and the video will be broadcast to audiences across Taiwan soon for more people to understand this exquisite, beautiful, and sacred traditional craft
Preparations before the Interview
We were very excited to be on TV for the first time in our life, but we were also worried that our performance would not be up to par. The day before the video shooting, we used our lunch break to gather in the school library to discuss and practice the details of the interview. However, we were really too nervous. Even though we had written down and memorized what we were going to say in the interview, we got NGs one after another, which made us very worried about the upcoming video shooting the next day.
After school, the screenwriter and director unexpectedly came to the school and intended to discuss with us in advance the process of video shooting the next day. This was the first time we faced the staff from the TV station. We were all uneasy and full of curiosity. We were afraid that if we said the wrong thing or were unable to say anything, it would be embarrassing. Unexpectedly, the director was very friendly, chatted with us about everyday trivia, and naturally talked about the special project we were working on. In the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, we gradually felt relieved and started chatting. The hesitant lines we recited at noon miraculously became smoother, and we finally gained the confidence to face the camera.
