Our project topic is Erhu. Erhu is also known as

Huqin. It is a pity that Erhu is gradually becoming less

familiar in today¡¦s society. The person we interviewed

this time is Mr. Ming-shun Tu, who specializes in

making Erhu. Mr. Tu once won third place at the Global

Erhu Exhibition Conference in Beijing, which is known

as the Nobel Prize in the Huqin world. Mr. Tu not only

Erhu, known as Huqin or Xiqin in ancient times, was

renamed Erhu during the Republic of China. It is a stringed

instrument. Erhu is composed of two strings. The modern

Erhu is tuned in pure fifths and is a mid-range and high-

range instrument among the huqin. Nowadays, various places

have independently developed bowedstring instruments of

different shapes according to the required conditions, such

as Gaohu, Jinghu, Banhu, Erxian, and trumpet  string. In

order to meet the needs of symphonicization of Chinese

music, Zhonghu and other instruments were also invented

based onthe format of Erhu.
